Images of Auckland and Hobbiton Movie Set. October 2018.
“Auckland is a city in the North Island of New Zealand. It is the largest urban area in the country. The Māori-language name for Auckland is Tāmaki or Tāmaki-makau-rau, meaning ‘Tāmaki with a hundred lovers’, in reference to the desirability of its fertile land at the hub of waterways in all directions.
“The Hobbiton Movie Set was a significant location used for The Lord of the Rings film trilogy and The Hobbit film series. It is situated on a family run farm about eight kilometres (5 miles) west of Hinuera and ten kilometres (6.2 miles) southwest of Matamata, in Waikato, and is now a Tolkien tourism destination, offering a guided tour of the set.”
