“It was designed and produced by the world-renowned sculptor Hongo Shin who was born in Sapporo. It consists of a 2.4m bronze statue that symbolizes people who survived tenaciously in snow and ice, and the 8m high Wanggo facing Sakhalin Island. It consists of three parts: the door and the marble spirit stone. On a clear day, the shadow of Sakhalin can be seen in the distance over the shoulder of the bronze statue.”
