“Until the beginning of the 20th century, Vienna was the largest German-speaking city in the world, and before the splitting of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in World War I, the city had two million inhabitants. Today, it is the second-largest German-speaking city after Berlin.
“Linz is the capital of Upper Austria and third-largest city in Austria. In the north of the country, it is on the Danube 30 km (19 miles), south of the Czech border.
“Salzburg (‘Salt-Castle’) is the fourth-largest city in Austria [and] it’s the birthplace of 18th century composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart who was born there on 27 January 1756.”
