“These 21 suitcases are the continuation of the work ‘100 Suitcases’, created by Marko Mäetamm and Kaido Ole in 2004. This piece was first exhibited at the XIII Tallinn International Print Triennial, entitled ‘Pagulus/in Exile’, and it currently belongs to the Viinistu Art Museum’s collection. Taavi Tulev developed the sound space that was created especially for the museum. Let these two works remind us of the tens of thousands of Estonian people that had to leave their homes during and after the Second World War, against their will and under pressure from the foreign powers that had occupied Estonia. For many of them, this journey was their last.”
